In the heat of South France it was a tough but also successful weekend for MERTEL Motorsport and Luca Ludwig – but with a bitter taste.
Luca Ludwig with sovereign qualifying 1 could position himself in P2 and had a strong start in race 1. But he was a notch too early too fast for race control and so he had to cope with a drive through penalty that flushed him many positions behind. But a confident racer and strong fighter as he is, he regained many positions and ended P6. Important points for the Championship- but frustrating for him and the whole team.
Matt Rosner was able to make a solid race and to gain 4 positions.

The Sunday started with a grandiose qualifying from Luca Ludwig – again P2 and this time with a strong and perfect start in race 2 that led him to the lead of the field the entire race. It was a strong fight with Giacomo Altoé but with his confidence and experience he kept his nerves. In the last curve just before the finish line, Altoé did a tough overtake in an unexpected way, which forced Luca to go wide and could not regain speed fast enough and his first place – the race was over and he ended up to P2. Which is undoubtedly a great achievement, but Luca Ludwig always goes for nothing than P1 and in this exact situation it was a bitter outgoing for him. Even if he showed immediately his respect for Altoé’s move. Nevertheless, driver and team were happy to be at the podium and celebrated it appropriately.
Matt Rosner gained again positions – this time five and even improved um one position from race 1 to race 2.
