And one more for the … track …. Italian GT racer Mauro Trentin and returning Steven Liquorish join the GT Cup Open squad of MERTEL Motorsport in Barcelona
Mauro Trentin @tre_ma78, Italian GT driver with MERTEL Motorsport since 2024 and long term racer in various Italian and international GT and Touring Car Championships is keen to compete in the tough field of the GT Open Cup Europe Series in the penulitmate round in Barcelona.
The Italian GT Championship offers a strong field of drivers and is held on iconic Italian tracks. The GT Cup Open Europe as a European-wide GT Cup series takes place at famous circuits across Europe and features a more international field. It is part of the large International GT Open Weekend with high visibility and wider geographical and media coverage, attracting a lot of attention from motorsport enthusiasts.
Trentin: “I am happy to compete in the Italian GT, but to fight with the Ferrari 488 Challenge also in the competitive GT Cup will be a welcome challenge and I am proud to do it with MERTEL Motorsport!”
Experienced british driver Steven Liquorish, returning to the GT Cup Open Europe will share cockpits with Mauro Trentin. Liquorish started several times with MERTEL Motorsport in the GT Cup Open Europe in 2023 and one of the rounds was the final in Barcelona. So it will be a known track for him.
