The journey for MERTEL Motorsport starts in the land of the rising sun … in Japan at Suzuka

Our Academy driver Timi Lehtonen has completed the first race of the highly competitive championship “The Simzone Championship GT3”.  We are proud that he competed against 23 other drivers last week and came first in the qualifying and the race.
Timi Lehtonen on his win: “It was an exciting race. Starting from P1 was actually a surprise for me as I didn’t get to practice as much as I wanted. After a contact with another car I dropped back to P6, but managed to finish P1 in the race and in the championship.

I am very happy with the result, because I know that this is an experienced team. I hope to compete as good for the rest of the season and that I can keep the lead. Next week we race at Paul Ricard, wehre I am much more experienced.”
