Another strong performance at 6H OF SPA - ONID ABRUZZI ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP
ONID Abruzzi Endurance
Race 1
Micah had put the car in P2 in qualifying, just behind P1. This created a good starting position for our race. Due to the regulations, Micah also drove the start and was able to hold P2 and put pressure on P1. In an attempt to overtake, he was held up by the leader at the apex of the corner and lost second position to the Bentley behind, which he was no longer able to overtake due to the top speed advantage despite having better pace. In the third stint Emil got into the car and was able to put pressure on P2, but unfortunately was unable to overtake. Emil finished his stints without any mistakes and handed the car over to Marvin for the last 2 stints. With a good overtaking maneuver in the twisty part of the track, Marvin was able to overtake P2 and build up some pressure in the long-distance duel with the leading McLaren. Unfortunately, the race to catch up didn’t quite work out and we finished P2 in the end.

Race 2
Micah was unable to set a good lap in the shorter two-part qualifying session and could only set the ninth-fastest time. One position was already gained before the start, as a car started from the pits. He then made up one position at the start and another when Nico was sent wide by the leader in a duel. On the second lap there was further chaos as the leading 3 cars collided on the Kemmel straight, clearing the way for the Mustang in front of us and our car. From then on, we were able to close the gap to the leading car and at the same time extend the gap to the rear. We were then able to overtake the Mustang in the pits thanks to a better pit stop. Unfortunately, the tires were so damaged at that point that it became a difficult task to defend P1. A setback came when P2 hit us in the rear in the corner before the full-throttle passage to Blanchimont and spun us around, which resulted in a 10-second penalty. We then closed the gap in Marvin’s stint and were able to overtake P1 again. After that, the race calmed down and we were able to continuously increase our gap while managing tires and risk. At the finish we had a one-minute gap to P2.
